LUPONG TAGAPAMAYAPA INCENTIVES AWARD (LTIA)

What is LTIA?

The Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) was established pursuant to Section 406 (b) of the LGC of 1991 which mandates the DILG to grant economic and other incentives to the Lupong Tagapamayapa for their outstanding contributions to attain the objectives of the Katarungang Pambarangay Law.

It was established in 1997 as a means to institutionalize a system of granting economic benefits and other incentives to the Lupong Tagapamayapa that demonstrates exemplary performance in settling disputes at the grassroots level.

Objectives

The Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards aims to:
  • Strengthen the Katarungang Pambarangay as an indigenous conflict resolution structure at the grassroots;
  • Institutionalize a system of granting economic benefits and other incentives to Lupons which demonstrate exemplary performance; and
  • Generate greater awareness among, and support from, the various sectors of Philippine society on the Katarungang Pambarangay as a potent vehicle toward social ordering and human development.

Categories

  • Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa in Highly-Urbanized Cities;
  • Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa in Component Cities;
  • Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa in 1st-3rd Class Municipalities; and
  • Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa in 4th-6th Class Municipalities.

Criteria

The performance and accomplishments of the lupons areevaluated by the committees organized at the regional, provincial and municipal levels on the basis of:

  • Efficiency of operations;
  • Effectiveness in securing the Katarungang Pambarangay objectives; and
  • Creativity and resourcefulness of mediators.

Awards and Prices

The Awards shall be conferred to each national awardee, through the Punong Barangay concerned, in the form of a Presidential Trophy and a Three Hundred Thousand Pesos (P 300,000) development grant.

For each regional awardee, Fifty Thousand Pesos (P 50,000) in development grant and a special plaque shall be awarded.
